Here East, London
Lang+Fulton / Hawkins Brown

The former Olympic Broadcast Centre at Here East in Stratford has been transformed into a 1.2 million square foot technical, digital and creative centre, including facilities for UCL, BT Sport, Loughborough University and Hackney Community College.
Grating by Lang+Fulton was used throughout the project, both internally and externally. Ceiling and soffit panels made from steel grating were used as cladding at the central entrances along the 280 m length of the building and within the overhead recessed openings, which add detail to the facade.
The contemporary exterior, featuring a glass frontage with digitally printed ceramic frit for solar shading, is punctuated by nine projecting and three recessed balconies These break up the colossal scale of the building and introduce an intense orange accent. In addition to the cladding panels for the recessed areas, Lang+Fulton supplied decking for the projecting balconies made from pressure locked heel-proof grating.
